Size & Kitchen Layout

Always measure your countertop depth (standard is 60cm) and the cut-out dimensions if replacing an existing unit.

60cm
Condo / Apartment
A 60cm built-in hob with 2 or 3 zones is ideal. Maximizes counter space without sacrificing power.
75–90cm
Family Home
Allows you to use a large kawali and a stockpot at the same time — perfect for big Filipino families.
5–10cm
Wall Clearance
Leave this space between your appliance and the wall for heat dissipation and backsplash protection.
65–75cm
Hood Height
Ideal rangehood height above the cooking surface for maximum smoke and odor extraction efficiency.

Fuel Type & Technology

Each fuel type has a distinct cooking experience. Choose based on your cooking style, kitchen setup, and safety priorities.

Gas LPG
Gas (LPG)
The Pinoy favorite. Provides instant heat and visual control — essential for traditional gisa and high-heat frying. Most responsive to adjustments.
Most Popular
Induction
Induction
The safest and most energy-efficient choice. Uses magnetic fields to heat the pan directly — keeping your kitchen cool, a huge plus in our tropical climate.
Safest & Most Efficient
Electric
Electric (Ceramic)
Uses radiant heat under glass. Easier to install than gas but takes longer to cool down. Great for simpler setups without LPG.
Dual Fuel
Dual Fuel
The best of both worlds — gas burners on top for control and an electric oven below for perfectly even baking. Ideal for serious home cooks.
Best for Bakers

Rangehoods: Fighting the Amoy-Ulam

A good rangehood is essential in Filipino kitchens. Look for a high CFM rating if you frequently cook aromatic dishes like tuyo or bagoong.

Ducted
Ducted (Vented)
If your kitchen layout allows, venting smoke outside is the most effective way to remove heat and cooking odors. Best for houses.
Most Effective
Ductless
Recirculating (Ductless)
Common in condos where external venting is not possible. Uses charcoal filters to clean the air before pushing it back into the room.
Condo-Friendly

Installation Essentials

A professional installation ensures both performance and safety. These are the non-negotiables.

Safety Standards
Always use LPG hoses and regulators with the PS (Product Safety) or ICC Mark. Never use uncertified fittings for gas connections.
Non-Negotiable
Hood Height
Install your rangehood 65cm to 75cm above the cooking surface for maximum smoke and odor extraction efficiency.
Wall Clearance
Leave at least 5cm–10cm between your appliance and the wall to allow for heat dissipation and protect your backsplash.
Electrical Check
Ensure kitchen outlets are properly grounded — especially for induction hobs — to protect sensitive electronics from power surges.

Care & Maintenance Tips

Our humid climate and heavy-use cooking habits require a proactive approach to keep your appliances makinang (shiny).

🧽 Daily
Clean as You Go
Wipe oil splatters immediately after the surface cools. Once grease sets in Philippine heat, it becomes a dust magnet and is much harder to remove.
🧽 Daily
Cool Down First
Never wipe a hot glass hob with a cold, wet rag. The temperature shock can crack the glass — always wait until the surface has cooled.
🧽 Daily
Soft Touch Only
Use microfiber cloths only. Avoid steel wool or abrasive pads — they leave permanent gasgas (scratches) that trap grease over time.
🪣 Deep Clean
Burner Ports
If your gas flame is orange instead of blue, the ports are clogged. Use a toothpick or soft brush to clear debris from the burner holes.
🪣 Deep Clean
Degreasing Grates
Soak cast iron grates in warm water with dishwashing soap and a splash of vinegar. Dry thoroughly before replacing to prevent kalawang (rust).
🪣 Deep Clean
The Baking Soda Trick
For stubborn burnt-on food, apply a paste of baking soda and water. Let it sit for 15 minutes, then wipe away with a damp cloth.
🪣 Deep Clean
Filter Replacement
If using a recirculating rangehood, replace the charcoal filters every 3–6 months to ensure your kitchen stays fresh and odor-free.
