However, high-res audio files are now being recorded at a minimum of 96 KHz, with 192 KHz slowly becoming the norm these days.

These typically come in either an uncompressed PCM file type like WAV or AIFF, or they can be downloaded as a lossless compressed file type like FLAC or ALAC.
